Job Title: Structural Engineer (Site-Based)
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Structural Engineer to oversee and ensure the integrity, safety, and quality of structural works across our construction projects. This role is site-based and requires a hands-on professional capable of interpreting designs, enforcing standards, and providing technical leadership on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision
- Monitor daily construction activities to ensure adherence to structural drawings and specifications
- * Inspect reinforcement, formwork, concrete works, and other structural elements before and during execution
- * Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality control standards
Technical Oversight*
- Review and interpret structural and shop drawings, as well as construction documents
- * Provide technical guidance to site engineers, foremen, and contractors
- * Identify and resolve structural issues or discrepancies during construction
Coordination
- Liaise with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth workflow
- * Attend site meetings and provide updates on progress, challenges, and solutions
- * Coordinate material testing and ensure proper documentation of results
Quality Assurance
- Conduct inspections and prepare reports on structural integrity and workmanship
- Ensure use of approved materials and compliance with project specifications
- * Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, and approvals
Problem-Solving
- Recommend corrective actions for structural defects or deviations
- Support value engineering initiatives and optimization of structural solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree is an added advantage)
- * Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in site-based structural supervision
- * Professional membership or certification (COREN, NSE, or equivalent) is preferred
- * Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and structural standards
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Revit, ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000)
- Basic project management skills (e.g., Microsoft Project or similar tools)
- Strong understanding of concrete, steel, and foundation systems
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
Work Environment
- Primarily site-based with regular inspections and stakeholder coordination
- May require extended hours depending on project timelines
Compensation
₦550,000 – ₦700,000, depending on experience and capability.
