Accountant
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Job Summary
- The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, and supporting budget preparation.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for maintaining financial integrity in a creative retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Recordkeeping:
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Process and record daily financial transactions accurately.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare periodic financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Provide regular financial reports to management and assist in strategic planning.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
- Support forecasting activities and variance analysis to inform business decisions.
Compliance & Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Liaise with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation during audits.
General Administrative Support:
- Collaborate with team members across departments to support financial planning and operations.
- Manage invoicing, payments, and expense claims efficiently.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Preferably a First class or Second Class upper graduate
- Minimum 3 years proven experience in accounting roles, preferably within a Premium retail or Finance industry environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Odoo) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and/or Google Workspace Suite.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and tax laws.
Personal Attributes:
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Good communication skills to explain complex financial data in clear terms.
Compensation
- Salary Range: N250,000 to N350,000 monthly
