Job Description

Accountant

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, and supporting budget preparation.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for maintaining financial integrity in a creative retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Process and record daily financial transactions accurately.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare periodic financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Provide regular financial reports to management and assist in strategic planning.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
  • Support forecasting activities and variance analysis to inform business decisions.

Compliance & Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, accounting standards, and company policies.
  • Liaise with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation during audits.

General Administrative Support:

  • Collaborate with team members across departments to support financial planning and operations.
  • Manage invoicing, payments, and expense claims efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Preferably a First class or Second Class upper graduate
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience in accounting roles, preferably within a Premium retail or Finance industry environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Odoo) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and/or Google Workspace Suite.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and tax laws.

Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Good communication skills to explain complex financial data in clear terms.

Compensation

  • Salary RangeN250,000 to N350,000 monthly
