Finance and Accounts Manager

Job Summary
- We are seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Finance & Accounts Manager to lead and manage the financial operations of the company and its affiliated entities.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end financial management across multiple business units, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial insight to support executive decision-making.
- This role requires a seasoned professional with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience and demonstrated capacity to manage and coordinate financial activities across multiple accounts with a high level of professionalism and efficiency.
- The ideal candidate will play a critical role in strengthening financial governance, supporting business growth, and ensuring regulatory compliance within a dynamic, project-driven agribusiness environment.
- This position demands strong analytical capability, commercial awareness, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- The role also requires proficiency in leveraging modern financial tools, including AI-driven solutions, to enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and overall financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) in line with IFRS and Nigerian GAAP.
- Develop management accounts providing Directors with clear, actionable financial insights.
- Monitor project-level financial performance, tracking costs against budgets for each contract.
- Maintain the general ledger with correct, auditable coding.
Budgeting, Planning & Forecasting:
- Lead preparation of the annual company budget with Directors and department heads.
- Develop rolling financial forecasts and cash flow projections for operational planning.
- Analyse budget variances with commentary and recommendations.
- Support financial models for new project bids, business proposals, and fundraising.
Statutory Compliance & Regulatory Obligations:
- Ensure compliance with CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, and FIRS/state revenue authority requirements.
- Manage timely filing of all statutory returns and liaise with external auditors for annual audits.
- Ensure PENCOM, NSITF, and ITF remittance compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of BPP financial requirements for government contracts.
Fundraising & Investor Readiness Support:
- Prepare financial documentation for fundraising rounds, grant applications, and investor due diligence.
- Maintain auditable records for development finance institutions and donor agencies.
- Support bankable business plans and feasibility reports with financial modelling.
- Liaise with banks, DFIs, and financial advisors as required.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
- Monitor daily cash positions and maintain liquidity across all active projects.
- Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and foreign exchange.
- Oversee project fund disbursements with proper authorization and audit trails.
- Track client and government agency receivables to maintain healthy cash flow.
AI Tools & Financial Productivity
- Leverage AI tools to improve reporting speed and quality.
- Automate repetitive tasks, flag anomalies, and generate draft management summaries.
- Evaluate and recommend AI-assisted financial software for scalability.
- Stay current with AI and fintech developments to improve financial governance.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Professional certification: ACA (ICAN), ACCA, or equivalent (mandatory or near completion).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, financial regulations, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, etc.) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-entity or project-based financial operations.
- Knowledge of contract-based financial management and procurement processes.
- Experience in agribusiness, construction, consulting, or donor-funded environments (added advantage).
- Familiarity with World Bank, AfDB, or similar donor compliance frameworks (desirable).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify risks and provide solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into financial workflows for improved productivity.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in agri-business, engineering consultancy, construction, or donor-funded development organisations.
- Familiarity with World Bank, AfDB, or multilateral donor financial reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting fundraising rounds, grant applications, or investor due diligence.
- Knowledge of BPP procurement financial requirements for Nigerian government contractors.
- Postgraduate degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or additional professional certifications

Benefits
- Salary Range: N300,000 – N400,000 per month (gross), commensurate with verified experience, certification, and demonstrated competence managing multi-entity accounts.
- 13th-month bonus, performance-based bonus, and employer pension contribution.
