ICT and Science Teacher

Job Summary
- An ICT and Science Teacher is responsible for teaching students computer-related subjects and science courses, helping them develop practical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- The teacher prepares lesson plans, delivers classroom instruction, assesses students, and supports students’ academic and personal development.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach ICT subjects such as Computer studies, Information technology, Basic programming, Internet and digital literacy, Microsoft Office applications
- Teach science subjects such as: Basic science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Integrated science
- Explain concepts clearly using practical examples and demonstrations.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lesson plans.
Practical and Laboratory Work:
- Supervise science laboratory practicals safely.
- Conduct computer practical sessions.
- Teach students how to use:
- Computers
- Educational software
- Internet tools
- Laboratory equipment
- Ensure proper maintenance of ICT equipment and science materials.
Student Assessment
Prepare:
- Tests
- Assignments
- Examinations
- Practical assessments
- Mark and grade students’ work.
- Monitor students’ academic progress.
- Provide feedback to students and parents.
Classroom Management:
- Maintain discipline in the classroom and laboratory.
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Encourage participation and teamwork.
Curriculum Implementation:
- Follow the approved school curriculum.
- Update teaching methods according to modern educational standards.
- Integrate technology into teaching and learning.
Administrative Duties:
- Keep accurate student records and attendance.
- Attend staff meetings and training workshops.
- Prepare academic reports when required.
Guidance and Mentorship:
- Guide students on academic and career development.
- Encourage creativity, innovation, and scientific thinking.
- Support students in projects, competitions, and research activities.
Key Objectives of the Role:
- Improve students’ digital literacy
- Develop scientific understanding
- Promote innovation and critical thinking
- Prepare students for higher education and modern careers.
Required Qualifications
Typical qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in:Computer Science, Information Technology, Education Science-related field, Teaching qualification / certification (where required)
- Examples: B.Ed, PGDE, 6TRCN registration (in Nigeria)
