Job Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and professionally competent Accountant to manage the organization's accounting operations, financial records, reporting, reconciliations, controls and statutory financial obligations.
- The successful candidate will support management with accurate financial information and ensure that accounting activities are performed in accordance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal financial policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and complete books of accounts and accounting records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare invoices, payment schedules, receipts and supporting financial documentation.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow, income and expenditure.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
- Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Maintain accurate general ledger postings and supporting schedules.
- Assist with payroll-related accounting activities.
- Support tax computations, filings and statutory financial obligations.
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, financial institutions and regulatory bodies when required.
- Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and identify financial control weaknesses.
- Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Monitor financial transactions for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
- Provide management with financial analysis and recommendations.
- Ensure proper application of accounting policies and procedures.
- Support annual audit and financial review processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information.
Qualifications and Professional Requirements
- B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- ICAN qualification/part-qualification is strongly preferred, with full professional qualification particularly desirable for senior accounting roles.
- ICAN's professional route accepts relevant university degrees / HND qualifications and provides professional certification pathways.
- ACCA qualification/part-qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum 2–5 years' relevant accounting experience depending on level.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Odoo, SAP or similar platforms.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- High level of integrity and financial confidentiality.
Preferred Qualificational Requirements:
- ACA/ICAN
- ACCA
- CIMA
- ANAN
- CFA — particularly for investment/financial-analysis roles
- Relevant tax professional qualification where applicable.
