Description
- The Finance & Accounts Manageris responsible for providing strong financial leadership and ensuring the organization's financial resources are effectively planned, controlled, accounted for and utilized to support business growth and profitability.
- The role will oversee the organization's financial accounting, management reporting, budgeting, cash-flow management, taxation, treasury, audit, statutory compliance, financial controls and financial planning.
- The Finance & Accounts Manager will also serve as a key business partner to Management by providing accurate and timely financial information, identifying financial risks and opportunities, controlling costs and supporting strategic decision-making.
- The position is expected to move beyond traditional bookkeeping and reporting by ensuring that finance actively contributes to revenue growth, cost optimization, cash preservation, profitability and sustainable business performance.
Responsibilties
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance & Accounts Department.
- Ensure accurate recording and classification of all financial transactions.
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounts.
- Review general ledger accounts and ensure appropriate reconciliations are performed.
- Ensure proper maintenance of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and inventory records.
- Review accounting entries, journals, provisions, accruals and adjustments.
- Monitor the company's financial position and provide regular reports to Management.
- Ensure that financial transactions are properly authorized and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective financial controls to prevent errors, fraud, leakage and financial mismanagement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
- 5–7 years' relevant experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Must be professionally qualified or progressing strongly toward qualification.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, management accounts and treasury.
- Experience with CBN regulatory reporting and FinA-related submissions.
- Strong understanding of banking accounting processes.
- Experience with reconciliation, cash management and financial controls.
- Knowledge of IFRS and applicable Nigerian tax requirements.
- Strong Excel/ERP/accounting software capability.
- Certifications: ICAN, ACCA, ACA or equivalent required/preferred depending on final grade.
