Location: Kuje, Abuja (FCT)

Industry: Manufacturing (Tissue paper converting company) 

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Production Manager to oversee and manage the company’s production operations.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining machinery and equipment, minimizing downtime, ensuring product quality, and meeting daily and monthly production targets.
  • The ideal candidate should have strong engineering, electrical, mechanical, and technical skills, with a proven track record of managing production operations in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily tissue paper production activities
  • Ensure production targets are achieved efficiently and within scheduled timelines
  • Monitor the operation and performance of production machines and equipment
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical, mechanical, and technical faults affecting production
  • Work closely with maintenance personnel to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce machine breakdowns and production downtime
  • Ensure proper installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems, production equipment, and machinery
  • Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements or replacements where necessary
  • Supervise, train, and coordinate production operators, technicians, and other production staff
  • Ensure production staff comply with company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations
  • Monitor the efficient use of raw materials and minimize production waste
  • Maintain proper production records, including output, machine downtime, material usage, maintenance activities, and production losses
  • Ensure that finished products meet the required quality standards
  • Work with the Quality Control team to identify and resolve production-related quality issues
  • Analyze production challenges and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and a safe working environment within the production area
  • Manage production costs and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenses
  • Liaise with procurement and management to ensure timely availability of raw materials, spare parts, and other production requirements
  • Prepare regular production reports for management
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and manufacturing standards
  • Recommend upgrades, modifications, or improvements to machinery and production processes
  • Perform other duties related to production and technical operations as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in production or manufacturing management
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial machinery and production equipment
  • Practical knowledge of machine troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in tissue paper converting, FMCG, packaging, or similar manufacturing industries will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of tissue paper production and converting machines
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, motors, sensors, control panels, PLCs, and automation
  • Knowledge of generators, compressors, pumps, and other industrial utility systems
  • Familiarity with inventory management and spare-parts control
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased production efficiency
  • Control of production costs
  • Good understanding of production processes and manufacturing operations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults
  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, machine manuals, and technical drawings
  • Good knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
  • Good computer skills and ability to prepare production reports and analyze production data.
