Production Manager

Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Production Manager to oversee and manage the company’s production operations.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining machinery and equipment, minimizing downtime, ensuring product quality, and meeting daily and monthly production targets.
- The ideal candidate should have strong engineering, electrical, mechanical, and technical skills, with a proven track record of managing production operations in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily tissue paper production activities
- Ensure production targets are achieved efficiently and within scheduled timelines
- Monitor the operation and performance of production machines and equipment
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical, mechanical, and technical faults affecting production
- Work closely with maintenance personnel to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce machine breakdowns and production downtime
- Ensure proper installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems, production equipment, and machinery
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements or replacements where necessary
- Supervise, train, and coordinate production operators, technicians, and other production staff
- Ensure production staff comply with company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations
- Monitor the efficient use of raw materials and minimize production waste
- Maintain proper production records, including output, machine downtime, material usage, maintenance activities, and production losses
- Ensure that finished products meet the required quality standards
- Work with the Quality Control team to identify and resolve production-related quality issues
- Analyze production challenges and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and productivity
- Ensure proper housekeeping and a safe working environment within the production area
- Manage production costs and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenses
- Liaise with procurement and management to ensure timely availability of raw materials, spare parts, and other production requirements
- Prepare regular production reports for management
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and manufacturing standards
- Recommend upgrades, modifications, or improvements to machinery and production processes
- Perform other duties related to production and technical operations as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in production or manufacturing management
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial machinery and production equipment
- Practical knowledge of machine troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in tissue paper converting, FMCG, packaging, or similar manufacturing industries will be an advantage
- Knowledge of tissue paper production and converting machines
- Experience with industrial electrical systems, motors, sensors, control panels, PLCs, and automation
- Knowledge of generators, compressors, pumps, and other industrial utility systems
- Familiarity with inventory management and spare-parts control
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased production efficiency
- Control of production costs
- Good understanding of production processes and manufacturing operations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults
- Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, machine manuals, and technical drawings
- Good knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
- Good computer skills and ability to prepare production reports and analyze production data.
