Job Summary
- Our client a superior luxury hotel in Aba, Abia State, is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of the hotel's restaurant.
- The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for ensuring excellent guest service, efficient restaurant operations, staff performance, food and service quality, inventory control, and achievement of restaurant revenue targets.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel restaurant to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate restaurant staff, including waiters, captains, hosts/hostesses, and other service personnel.
- Ensure consistently high standards of guest service and hospitality.
- Monitor restaurant opening and closing procedures and ensure operational readiness.
- Prepare and manage staff duty rosters and shift schedules.
- Ensure proper table setup, restaurant presentation, cleanliness, and ambience.
- Monitor food and beverage service to ensure orders are accurate, timely, and professionally delivered.
- Handle guest complaints, enquiries, and special requests promptly and professionally.
- Monitor restaurant sales, daily revenue, discounts, voids, and other operational transactions.
- Work closely with the Kitchen and F&B teams to maintain food quality, portion control, and service standards.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with relevant departments for replenishment of food, beverages, and restaurant supplies.
- Help control operational costs, wastage, breakages, and losses.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and hotel operating standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of the restaurant, service areas, equipment, and facilities.
- Train, coach, and mentor restaurant employees to improve service delivery and productivity.
- Conduct staff briefings before shifts and communicate daily operational priorities.
- Monitor staff grooming, punctuality, attendance, and professional conduct.
- Coordinate restaurant operations during VIP functions, conferences, private dinners, and other hotel events.
- Collaborate with the F&B Manager and other departments to improve guest satisfaction and revenue performance.
- Prepare and submit relevant restaurant reports, including sales, staffing, stock, wastage, and operational reports.
- Support menu promotions, special dining events, and initiatives designed to increase restaurant revenue.
- Ensure that all restaurant policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Requirements
- HND or B.Sc. in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years' relevant experience in restaurant or hotel food and beverage operations.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial restaurant role is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant service standards, food and beverage operations, and hospitality practices.
- Excellent customer service and guest-relations skills.
- Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate a diverse service team.
- Good understanding of inventory, cost control, wastage management, and restaurant revenue operations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with restaurant POS systems.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and during special hotel events when required
