Financial Controller
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Typical Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Accounting Operations & Reporting: Direct month-end/year-end closing processes, prepare financial statements (balance sheets, income statements), and maintain the general ledger.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop and enforce internal control policies to safeguard assets, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Financial Analysis & Budgeting: Compare actual results against budgets to identify variances, providing insights for cost reduction and performance improvement.
- Cash Management & Audit: Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity, while coordinating with external auditors and managing tax filings.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the accounting department, fostering accuracy and efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; Master’s (MBA) or CPA/CMA certifications are often required.
- Experience: Several years of progressive experience in accounting, with demonstrated leadership in financial management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Competencies: Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and excellent communication skills for reporting to the CFO or executive team.
