Job Summary
- The role of an accountant with good knowledge of taxation is very important in any organization, especially in businesses such as hotels, companies, and consulting firms.
- The accountant ensures proper financial management while also making sure the organization complies with tax laws.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Monitor income, expenses, and cash flow.
Tax Planning and Compliance:
- Ensure the company complies with all tax regulations.
- Prepare and file tax returns on time.
- Calculate and remit taxes such as VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Company Income Tax.
Preparation of Financial Statements
Prepare financial statements such as:
- Profit and Loss Account
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow Statement
- Provide management with financial insights for decision-making.
Payroll and Staff Tax Deductions:
- Manage employee payroll.
- Deduct and remit PAYE and pension contributions to the appropriate authorities.
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Assist management in preparing budgets.
- Monitor spending and ensure operations stay within budget.
Liaison with Tax Authorities:
- Communicate with tax authorities such as the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service.
- Handle tax audits and respond to tax queries.
Internal Control and Financial Compliance:
- Implement strong financial control systems.
- Detect and prevent fraud, financial mismanagement, and tax penalties.
Advisory Role:
- Advise management on tax savings strategies.
- Guide the company on financial decisions that reduce tax liabilities legally.

Requirements
