Finance Assistant

Locations: Katsina

Job type: Contract

Job Purpose

  • The Finance Assistant will support the finance unit in ensuring effective financial management of donor-funded projects.
  • The role involves assisting with financial documentation, processing payments, maintaining financial records, supporting budget monitoring, and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational financial policies.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Transactions and Documentation:

  • Prepare payment vouchers and ensure all supporting documents are complete and properly approved.
  • Process staff advances, vendor payments, and reimbursements in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.

Cash and Bank Management:

  • Assist in managing petty cash and ensure proper recording of all transactions.
  • Support preparation of bank reconciliation statements.
  • Track cash advances and ensure timely retirement of advances.

Budget Monitoring:

  • Support the Finance Manager in monitoring project budgets and expenditures.
  • Assist in tracking project spending against approved budgets.
  • Flag potential budget variances or overspending.
  • Demonstrates a genuine concern for the well-being of vulnerable individuals.
  • Integrity: Maintains the highest ethical standards in all professional activities.
  • Resilience: Capable of working under challenging conditions and managing stress effectively.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive in identifying issues and implementing solutions.
