Line Cook

Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and detail-oriented Line Cook to prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and food safety regulations.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a designated kitchen station, ensuring timely food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting smooth kitchen operations during service hours.
- This role requires speed, consistency, teamwork, and a passion for producing high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards
- Operate and manage assigned kitchen stations, including:
- Grill station
- Fry station
- Salad station
- Sauce station
- Prep station
- Ensure food is prepared and presented consistently and professionally
- Follow portion control and food presentation guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations at all times
- Ensure compliance with:
- Food safety regulations
- Hygiene standards
- Kitchen operating procedures
- Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages promptly
- Assist with food preparation before service periods
- Properly store food items and ingredients to prevent spoilage and wastage
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely order completion
- Minimize food waste and support cost-control initiatives
- Assist with kitchen cleaning and closing procedures
- Report equipment faults and maintenance issues promptly
Requirements
- Minimum of SSCE, OND, or equivalent qualification
- Culinary training or certification is an added advantage
- 2–4 years’ experience as a Line Cook, Cook, or Kitchen Assistant in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- Food preparation techniques
- Kitchen operations
- Food safety and hygiene standards
- Portion control procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good time management and multitasking skills
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work under pressure
- Team-oriented attitude and willingness to support colleagues
- High level of discipline, cleanliness, and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with grills, fryers, ovens, and commercial kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of local and continental cuisine will be an added advantage
- Food Handler’s Certificate or relevant hospitality certification is an advantage.
Remuneration
- Negotiable.
- Salary: N80,000 - N100,000 per month.
