Accountant / Supply Chain Officer
Location: Ilupeju, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Department: Finance & Supply Chain
Reports To: Finance Manager / Financial Controller
Dotted Line: Supply Chain / Procurement Manager
Industry: Construction / Operational Services
About the Role
- Are you a detail-oriented finance professional who loves to see the operational impact of your numbers? Do you excel at maintaining bulletproof financial controls while optimizing vendor workflows?
- We are seeking a versatile Accountant / Supply Chain Officer to join our team in a dynamic hybrid role. This unique position splits your expertise between core Accounting & Financial Management (~70%) and Supply Chain Coordination (~30%). Serving as the crucial link between our Finance and Operations teams, you will embed robust financial controls at every stage of our procurement-to-payment cycle—ensuring accuracy from the initial quote to the final statutory remittance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Accounting Management (~70%):
- Financial Reporting: Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Nigerian GAAP.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, manage weekly bank reconciliations, maintain creditor/debtor aging reports, and drive proactive collections.
- Tax & Statutory Compliance: Prepare and file VAT, WHT, PAYE, and statutory deductions (ITF, NSITF, NHF, pension) strictly within FIRS and local regulatory deadlines.
- Audit & Cost Control: Support the annual external audit process by preparing schedules and audit-ready records. Monitor actual expenditure against budgets to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Supply Chain Coordination (~30%):
- Procurement Support: Gather competitive supplier quotations, prepare comparative analyses, issue purchase orders, and maintain our approved vendor database.
- Inventory & Stock Control: Coordinate with the warehouse team to manage optimal inventory levels, reconcile physical stock counts against system records, and analyze slow-moving stock.
- Vendor & Logistics Management: Complete due diligence onboarding checks, monitor vendor performance scorecards, and track inbound freight/logistics costs.
- Financial Controls: Enforce a strict three-way matching process (Purchase Order, Goods Received Note, and Supplier Invoice) before any payment is authorized.
First 90-Day Priorities
- Reconcile outstanding balances and complete a full review of aging reports.
- Map the existing procurement-to-payment workflow to identify control gaps or inefficiencies.
- Establish and refine an up-to-date vendor database with verified compliance documents.
- Prepare your first monthly management accounts pack independently.
