Account Officer

Location: Surulere, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Account Officer to manage day-to-day transactional accounting for our client portfolio.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate bookkeeping, data entry, accounts payable/receivable. management and bank reconciliations while supporting the senior team in maintaining pristine, audit-ready financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily client financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments on cloud accounting platforms.
  • Perform routine bank, credit card, and vendor ledger reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
  • Track client accounts receivable to minimize aging balances and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Process accounts payable transactions and prepare vendor payment schedules for approval.
  • Assist in preparing primary documentation for VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and pension filings.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready digital and physical accounting records for all assigned clients.
  • Post and categorize daily client business expenses within 24–48 hours of source document receipt.
  • Support Senior Accountants in gathering information for month-end reports and audit engagements.
  • Respond to basic client billing queries and maintain excellent professional communications.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the accounting department as required.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–4 years' relevant experience in taxation and accounting.
  • Proven experience in foundational bookkeeping or entry-level corporate accounting.
  • Foundational proficiency in cloud accounting software (Xero or QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic understanding of standard bookkeeping practices and Nigerian statutory tax deductions.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • High level of integrity, focus, and strict attention to detail to avoid posting errors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and hit data-entry targets.
  • Ability to work under pressure, learn fast, and handle multiple client files concurrently.
  • Active pursuit of professional accounting certifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, ATS) is an added advantage.

Salary

N200,000 - N250,000 Monthly.
