Job Description
- The Chef will beresponsible for planning, preparing, and presenting high-quality meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen efficiency.
- The Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensure customer satisfaction through excellent food quality, minimize wastage, and contribute to the profitability of the Kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Quality:
- Prepare and cook meals according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all meals.
- Monitor food quality before it is served to customers.
Kitchen Operations:
- Organize and coordinate daily kitchen activities.
- Supervise food storage and ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO).
- Maintain accurate records of food production and kitchen inventory.
Food Safety & Hygiene:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
- Properly store raw materials and cooked food to prevent contamination and spoilage.
Inventory & Cost Control:
- Monitor ingredient usage and reduce food wastage.
- Ensure efficient use of ingredients to control food costs.
Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with kitchen assistants and restaurant staff.
- Maintain professionalism and positive communication within the team.
Requirements
Education:
- Minimum of SSCE / OND or equivalent.
- Formal culinary training or certification is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Chef or Cook in a reputable restaurant, hotel, or catering establishment.
- Experience preparing a wide range of Nigerian dishes is required.
Salary
N80,000 – N100,000 / month.
