Experienced Accountant / Account Assistant
Location: Nassarawa GRA, Kano
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records and financial books.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Record financial transactions using double-entry accounting principles.
- Prepare financial reports and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Process invoices, payments, receipts, and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers and other stakeholders on financial matters.
- Support audits and maintain effective internal controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality, retail, or service industry.
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting principles.
- Proven experience preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations.
- Good knowledge of VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and other statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- ICAN/ACCA qualification or progress towards qualification is an added advantage.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to communicate in Yoruba and/or Igbo is an advantage, as many of our suppliers communicate in these languages.
