School Principal

Job Description
The School Principal will provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the school, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, discipline, and student welfare.
The role involves overseeing daily school operations, implementing the school’s vision and values, and driving continuous improvement in academic performance.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and direction for the school (Nursery, Primary, and/or Secondary).
Supervise and support teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure effective curriculum delivery.
Ensure compliance with educational standards, government regulations, and school policies.
Oversee academic planning, lesson delivery, assessments, and examinations.
Promote a safe, disciplined, and child-friendly learning environment.
Monitor student performance and implement strategies for academic improvement.
Manage staff recruitment, appraisal, training, and professional development.
Foster positive relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider community.
Prepare and manage academic calendars, timetables, and school activities.
Work closely with the proprietors/board to achieve institutional goals.
Requirements
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related discipline
A Postgraduate qualification (PGDE, Master’s Degree) is an added advantage
TRCN certification is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 – 8 years teaching experience
At least 3 – 5 years in a leadership role (Vice Principal, Head Teacher, Academic Coordinator, or similar)
Experience in a private school setting is highly desirable
Proven track record of improving academic performance and school standards.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and people-management skills
Excellent communication (written and verbal)
Sound knowledge of Nigerian education curriculum (EYFS / Primary / WAEC / NECO as applicable)
Ability to plan, organize, and manage school operations effectively
Strong disciplinary and classroom management skills
Decision-making and problem-solving abilities
High level of integrity, professionalism, and emotional intelligence
Basic ICT skills and familiarity with school management systems.
